Join us in reading The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. Together, we’ll read portions of the book in the group, and students will also have time to read independently. Book club will include engaging discussions and fun activities inspired by the story. Each student will get to keep their copy of the book. Note: Snacks will be provided and you must pre-register by April 24th.

Each week we will listen to the book on zoom as a group and then talk about our favorite parts. Everyone that joins will receive the book to read and a bookmark to keep your place. We will be reading the following books: Escape from Mr. Limoncell's Library, The Wild Robot, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, and Tuck Everlasting.

Our mission is to promote effective transition services through community collaboration for youth with disabilities that will prepare them for adult life. Members of the committee may include representatives from education, adults with disabilities who have received transition services, parents of youth with disabilities, local business or industry, rehabilitation services, county & health agencies and additional public or private adult service providers. Transition planning includes the areas of Employment, Post-Secondary Education & Training, Recreation & Leisure, Home Living, and Community Participation.

"Lovebird Treehouse" Join us for an evening of acrylic painting! Our February painting will feature a birdhouse with pink and red "lovebirds" perfect for Valentine's Day!

"Rainbow Butterfly" Join us for an evening of acrylic painting! Our march painting will feature a large butterfly with rainbow and mosaic patterned wings.

"Summer Lights in the City" Join us for an evening of acrylic painting! Our May painting will feature a string of lights, hanging between building silhouettes at sunset.

For the first session you will choose a 3-D shape, construct your jar, and fit a lid (with a flange) on top. In the second session you will clean up the leatherhard jar, refine how the lid fits, and hand-paint decoration on the surfaces, using underglaze. Step-by-step instructions will lead you to succeed in creating this complex pottery form! *Please note there is a $15 material fee paid directly to the instructor at class. Island City Clayspace Workshops are for adults & teens aged 14+. Functional ceramic projects are food-safe and can be put in the dishwasher, microwave, and oven. Clay, use of tools, underglazes, bisque firing, glaze, and glaze firing are all included, as applicable. Workshops include detailed demos, and participants learn and practice clay-working skills. Workshops are suitable for both beginners & experienced clay artists. Fired project pick-up by arrangement.

Enjoy a hot drink from your own handmade mug! Build and decorate two handled, slab mugs, that may be similar or not. Slab-building and extruding demos and tips presented, including texturing and/or painting the outside surfaces. Your mugs will be food-safe and can b e put in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher. *Please note there is a $15 material fee paid directly to the instructor at class. Create a rectangular, red earthenware planter and tray for one or more of your favorite plants, using slab-building techniques, texturing, and colored slip! *Please note there is a $15 fee paid directly to the instructor at the time of class. Have fun making and decorating several clay tiles, with a variety of ceramic techniques.
