About Sports

After School Activities Sports at the Winona Middle School are open to students in grades 5-8. These sports are open to all students in the Winona area.

Volleyball (5th & 6th Grade)
Sports

It's time to get your bump, set, spike going! Volleyball players, whether you know the game or not, are encouraged to join. This popular girls sport will keep you moving while you learn and perfect your skills. If you hope to play Winhawk volleyball someday, this is the starting point for you. Sign up now, you may just have an "ace" in you!
Fall 2025

Basketball - Boys (5th & 6th Grade)
Sports

Slam dunk your way into a great basketball season! 5th and 6th grade boys will practice skills, drills, and ball control. Teams will be formed and intramural games will be played. Emphasis will be on preparing participants for competitive play as 7th graders. Practices will be held at W-K Elementary. Students will be bused to W-K Elementary and parents must pick up at the end of practice at W-K. There will be no practice on November 25 and the weeks of December 15 and 22.
Fall 2025

Basketball - Girls (Grades 5 & 6)

Let’s shoot some hoops! 5th and 6th grade girls will practice skills, drills, and ball control. Teams will be formed and intramural games will be played. Emphasis will be on preparing participants for the competitive play as 7th graders. Practice will be held at Jefferson Elementary. Students will be bused to Jefferson Elementary and parents must pick up at the end of practice at Jefferson. There will be no practice on November 25 and the weeks of December 15 and 22.

Dance (5th & 6th Grade)
Sports

You just gotta dance! Dance team will teach you the basics of hip hop, jazz, and high kick dance. Dance team is for dancers of all levels and experience. There will be a final show for the parents to show off what dancers have learned. Grab a friend and your dance shoes (tennis shoes are fine) and get moving to the music! There will be no practice on November 25 and the weeks of December 15 and 22.

Fitness Center (Grades 7 & 8)
Sports

7th and 8th grade boys and girls are encouraged to come and prepare for a sport or develop a healthy lifestyle. All students must be registered and have a sports physical on file before they can participate. Students must sign up daily in the After School Activities Office to be able to attend.
